A speed chain rivet extractor—more commonly called a chain breaker tool—is a bicycle maintenance tool used to push chain pins (rivets) out of and back into chain links, allowing the chain to be shortened, repaired, or replaced.
It works by driving a small threaded pin against the chain’s rivet until it slides out of the outer plates.
