Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right cycling cleats? +
Choose cleats that match both your cycling shoes and your pedal system. Olympic Cycles stocks Shimano SPD, Shimano SPD-SL, LOOK KEO, Time ATAC and Crankbrothers cleats for a wide range of road, MTB and gravel bikes.
What is the difference between SPD and SPD-SL cleats? +
SPD cleats use a two-bolt design commonly used for mountain biking, gravel riding and commuting, while SPD-SL cleats use a three-bolt design intended for road cycling and maximum pedalling efficiency.
Are LOOK, Time and Crankbrothers cleats compatible with Shimano pedals? +
No. Cleats are generally designed to work only with their matching pedal systems. Always choose cleats that are compatible with your specific pedals.
When should I replace my cycling cleats? +
Replace your cleats when they become worn, develop excessive play or no longer engage and release from your pedals consistently. Worn cleats can affect pedalling performance and safety.
Does Olympic Cycles sell cycling cleats in South Africa? +
Yes. Olympic Cycles stocks genuine cycling cleats for Shimano SPD, Shimano SPD-SL, LOOK KEO, Time ATAC and Crankbrothers pedal systems, with fast nationwide delivery throughout South Africa.
