Syncros Duncan SL Aero Seatpost (Carbon, 15mm Offset)
This is a completely different class of seatpost compared to the Duncan 2.0 you shared earlier—much more performance-focused and bike-specific.
What makes this one special
Lightweight performance
- ~195 g → over 100 g lighter than the alloy Duncan 2.0
- Uses Carbon UD + SL layup, meaning:
- Fibers aligned for maximum strength
- Less material needed → lower weight
This is proper race-level weight saving
Aero integration (big difference)
- Designed specifically for:
- Scott Foil RC
- Scott Plasma TT
- Shape is aero-profiled, not round:
- Reduces drag
- Integrates into the frame airflow
⚠️ Important:
This is NOT a universal seatpost
→ It only fits those specific Scott bikes
Advanced carbon construction
-
SL Carbon Layup
- ~10% lighter than standard carbon builds
-
Unidirectional (UD) carbon
- Higher stiffness along load paths
- Stronger under pedaling forces
Translation: lighter + stiffer + still strong
Practical specs
- Material: Carbon UD / SL Layup
- Offset: 15 mm
- Length: 380 mm
- Rails: 7x7 mm + 7x9 mm carbon rails
- Use: Road / TT only
Compared to Duncan 2.0 (alloy)
| Feature | Duncan 2.0 (Alloy) | Duncan SL Aero (Carbon) |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | ~300 g | ~195 g |
| Fit | Universal (27.2 / 31.6) | Bike-specific only |
| Comfort | Firm | Slightly more compliant |
| Aero | None | Yes (major advantage) |
| Cost | Lower | Premium |
| Use case | Everyday riding | Racing / aero performance |
Pros
- Very lightweight
- Aerodynamic advantage (especially at speed)
- High-end carbon construction
- Clean integrated look
Cons (important)
- ❌ Only fits specific Scott bikes
- ❌ More expensive
- ❌ Carbon = needs careful torque + assembly paste
- ❌ Less forgiving in crashes vs alloy
Who this is for
This seatpost makes sense if:
- You ride a Scott Foil RC or Plasma TT
- You care about aero gains + weight savings
- You’re building a race-focused bike
It does NOT make sense if:
- You don’t own those bikes (it simply won’t fit)
- You want a general upgrade
- You prioritize durability over performance
Bottom line
This is a high-end, race-specific aero carbon seatpost—light, stiff, and fast—but only valuable if you have the exact compatible bike.
