The Shimano SH-XC501 MTB Cycling Shoe is a lightweight cross-country shoe built for riders who want efficient pedalling, a secure fit and dependable grip when the trail takes them off the bike. Its combination of a stiff, glass-fibre-reinforced sole and Michelin rubber outsole makes it equally suitable for XC MTB, trail and gravel riding.
A low-profile midsole helps keep the foot stable inside the shoe, providing a solid platform for putting power through the pedals. Shimano gives the XC501 a stiffness rating of 7, offering a useful balance between pedalling efficiency and enough flexibility for the occasional dismount or short section on foot.
The upper uses Shimano's Surround Wrapping construction, creating a close-fitting feel around the foot while reducing unnecessary overlapping material. The combination of synthetic leather, mesh and TPU provides support while allowing airflow through the perforated sections.
A BOA L6 dial makes adjusting the fit quick and simple, while a forefoot strap provides additional security across the front of the foot. Shimano's DYNALAST shaping is designed to support a natural foot position while pedalling, helping maintain a consistent connection between your foot and the pedal.
