Our staff pick this week comes from Adrian de Bruyns (Above, wearing yellow), who is no stranger to the demands of racing! With a distinguished history in road cycling, he knows exactly what is needed to fuel you on those long rides and this week he’s offering advice for rides below and above 100km.

On rides less than 100km, Adrian sticks to High 5 Zero tablets to replace electrolytes without sugar. High5 tablets make a refreshing, delicious electrolyte sports drink and are easily portable. To keep his energy level up, he’ll consumes 1-2 Racefood Fastbar’s.

On rides over 100km, his nutrition demands are different, because no one wants to hit the wall! He’ll choose PowerBar Energize bars or wafers, with PowerBar gels in between for an added boost. On the hydration side, there is no other choice besides Cadence Marathon, which provides carbs as well as protein to prevent muscle catabolism.
